How To Fix Scooter Mirror

Small scooters have very narror mirrors they make seeing behind you very hard. I built these for my Kymco Agility for about $3 a piece. All material from ebay and Ace hardware. They are aluminum and stainless fasteners. No special tool were used. Just a saw and drill press.

You can get a set of mirrors extenders on ebay for $20 and they look much better in my opinion. Try "mirror extenders" search.
  3. a practical, inexpensive solution to a common problem. way to go, jesionowski.

hit 'em with some black paint and you're good to go.

  4. Please post the dimensions of that bar stock. Thanks.

Also, mirror extenders can be had for less than $10. I've seen them on Amazon.com and you should have color choices, if that matters.

  5. scooters weren't built for us broad shouldered, studly types (like Im sure we ALL are...) LOL

    Nice job on those!

  6. If yours are round you can easily get the mirrors a couple more inches outboard for better view by increasing the bend of the mirror stems closer to a 90 degree angle.
Added benefit in appearance as this negates that doofy insect antenna look too.
  7. 3/8 x 3/4 x 6" . I bought 4 -12'' pcs for $11 including shipping from ebay.

I tried looking on line for anything that would do the job. All the ones I found were about $20 and only extended things about 2" per side

So I built my own. Always way more satisfying at least for me. Form follows function in this case. Not the prettiest but it does exactly what I want it to do.

  8. So i guess my BS in mechanical engineering finally paid off.:rofl

If I dont design and build something, no matter how simple or small every week or so I dont feel right.

I will take them off this weekend, grinds some nice corners on them and paint them black

  9. Is there any increase in vibration transmitted to the mirrors?
  10. Thanks.
    I wondered the same thing.
  11. Yes, But not as bad as you would think. Still very viewable. That aluminim bar is WAY more stiff then it would seem. It tends to vibrate more at idle and less at speed.
  12. I bought these of EBay.

    They work great.

  13. Oh yes! That $100K education saved you $20! :rofl

    What else you made?

Also here is it all painted and road tested. Works great. Those Ebays ones didnt kick the mirrors out far enough.
